While we see these clients for only 45 minutes, case managers have long journeys with their clients. They can spend up to two years or more working together and supporting them with the resources they need to lead the strong and healthy lives these individuals and families envision for themselves.

Marquea Holford, Case Manager
Marquea Holford, a mental health advocate for Cascadia Health, is one such case manager. Marquea is part of their street outreach team which helps individuals living houseless gain stable housing. This often means meeting people in camps and working through barriers such as criminal background, addiction, or mental health.
Marquea originally started bringing clients to us when she was working at another agency, and one of the first things she did as an employee of Cascadia Health was to sign up for a Case Manger Orientation so she could continue bringing her clients to Community Warehouse.
When asked to describe the impact a visit to our furniture banks can have on her clients, she had this to say: “It can really be the difference between sleeping on the floor and having a bed. And for a lot of our folks, whether it be physical disabilities or even mental health, its a huge impact. You’re going to get such a better night’s sleep if you’re in a bed. Your body and your mind are going to be so much stronger if you have a couch or an air conditioner. These are the things that are just priceless for folks, and it makes a huge difference.”
Receiving furniture through Community Warehouse gave their clients a 40% higher chance of remaining in their housing. Marquea highlights some of the reasons why: “Even to just have pots and pans to cook with, that’s huge.”
It’s amazing how much work can be accomplished by so few when the hearts are dedicated. You guys are the real deal.
