Every spring, Community Warehouse hosts its annual Chair Affair event to raise critical mission funds.

At the heart of the event are brilliant, one-of-a-kind children’s chairs created by local artists. These chairs are displayed and “sponsored” by supporters of the main Chair Affair event on April 18th, before they are returned to Community Warehouse to be picked out by children of families served.

January 11 |  Children’s Chairs Available for Pickup

Artists may choose to find their own Children’s Chairs to refurbish or come to our Warehouse where we have donated chairs available for pickup on two days:  Saturday, January 11th from 9-11 am in Portland and 12-2 pm in Tualatin. Please drop by to choose from our selection. Chairs are first-come, first-serve. When you arrive, please ask a team member to show you where the children’s chairs are located.

Note: Many artists have had success finding chairs at garage sales, thrift stores, or anywhere you please!

March 31
  |  All Children’s Chairs Due

Please deliver your work to our Portland Warehouse (3969 NE MLK Blvd, 97212) or Tualatin Warehouse (8380 SW Nyberg St) on or before March 31, 2018. A volunteer or staff member will help take in your work.

IMPORTANT! Please include a small tag (either tied on or gently affixed to your piece) that has your ARTIST NAME and TITLE OF YOUR CHAIR. If you would like to create a nice card or tag with your artist statement, logo, or contact information, please do. We will display these with your piece.  At the event, we will also have a name card for each chair with title, artist, and sponsor.

How It Works:

Prior to Chair Affair (Community Warehouse’s spring fundraising event), local artists transform castoff chairs into beautiful, creative works of art. Businesses and individuals are invited to sponsor the chairs for $500 each. The chairs are displayed at Chair Affair for guests to view. After the event, the chairs return to our Warehouses, where children visiting the furniture bank with their family can pick their very own chair.

Sponsors who would like to sponsor a particular artist’s chair can request to do so.  Otherwise, sponsors will be matched to artist chairs by the development team.
