Okay, let's get to know Mike
just a bit...
1. How did you first hear about the Warehouse?
I dropped off some furniture when we moved. Not at this location though, two
Warehouses ago. I started out working in the Estate Store, then one day the
former repair lady didn't show and I sort of just assumed her job.
2. If you had to describe yourself in three words, what would they be?
Dependable. Innovative. Handy.
3. What's your favorite past time outside of the Warehouse?
Probably fishing. We have a house on the coast.
4. With so many volunteer opportunities out there, why do you choose to
help the Warehouse?
I can pick my own hours and I enjoy doing what I'm doing. Before I started
doing this, I'd never repaired a piece of furniture in my life. It's rewarding; I
enjoy it. They're also serving a real community need here, which is rewarding
in and of itself.
5. What is the most interesting item you've come across at the
Warehouse?
A little cigar humidor, we fixed it up and sold it in the Estate Store. It was
pretty funky.
6. If you could be any fictional character, who would it be and why?
James Bond, he always gets the girl.
7. Tell us one thing the Warehouse staff and other volunteers don't
know about you?
I worked in Africa for 6 years; I was working for the carter center, in a
program called the Guinea Worm Eradication Program in Nigeria and
Uganda. Nigeria's quite the interesting place.

Our summer intern Abby will be making her way around to all of our volunteers for spotlight interviews. It's voluntary (of course!) but if you are a regular volunteer and are interested, feel free to reach out to abby@communitywarehouse.org. Thanks!
