Private Creative Party at COLLAGE
Price: $100 

Plan a party (age 6 and up!) for 8 or gather your friends for a fun night out. Choose from a variety of classes to spark your creativity. Party comes with an instructor ready to guide you through the project of your choice. Plan on 30 minutes of meet and greet and 90 minutes of instruction at COLLAGE, 1639 NE Alberta St, Portland. Call or email collagepdx.blogspot.com to set a mutually agreeable time for your party.  Please allow at least 2 weeks notice. Farm to Table Tour
Presented by Andrew Garrett of High Heat Catering
Sunday, August 12th at noon
Price: $150 (per person) 

Andrew’s mission is to bring YOU to the farms, show YOU how to hunt for wild mushrooms, catch fresh salmon, and use local lamb.  Get educated about the value and passion involved with shopping locally and cooking at home through hands-on experience.

YOUR DAY: Andrew will transport your group (up to 10) to 3 or 4 farms for tours with local growers.  Starting with Andrew’s main course (lamb, elk, pork, pheasant or ?), guests get to help choose the rest of the dinner menu.
Next, to a tasting and tour at a local winery where Andrew will put your food choices and his chef’s talent to work making the meal. You will get to watch, eat, enjoy, then be driven back to your rendezvous spot.

Get dirty with Garden Bootcamp at the 30-acre
Rosemund Farm (in Hillsboro.)Price: $125 

Whether you are a novice to the wonderful world of horticulture or a gardening guru, JENNA BAYER’S GARDEN BOOTCAMP is a fun and interactive way to help you make your garden dreams come true. You will learn:

  • the basics of maintaining plant health, soil structure and chemistry
  • how mulch can be your best friend
  • design and layout
  • plant selection
  • how to deal with pests and pathogens.

This 4-hour class (9:00am to 1:00pm) is held at the 30-acre Rosemound Farm (in Hillsboro) and includes refreshments.  Bring warm clothes, a jacket, boots, pruners, gloves and get ready to dig in.

From Garden to Table
Garden Tour and Lunch at Vern* and Mary’s Garden
Price: $75 

Vern and Mary’s kitchen garden is designed not only for food production but as an extension of living space.

The visit includes a garden tour with a discussion of what was planted and why. Vern and Mary will also talk about sources, tools and garden techniques. Enjoy lunch from the earth oven and grill while sipping lavender lemonade. It is Vern’s fervent hope that you will go home and plant a kitchen garden.

Bead Stringing at Dava Bead and Trade (2121 NE Broadway)
Friday, May 11 10:30-1:30
Price: $60 

In this technique class, you will learn about the different materials and tools used for stringing beads. This will include the use of soft-flex and crimp beads, knotting between beads, applying bead tips, attaching cord crimps and a clasp to leather cording.  Comes with a $30 Dava gift card.
