Tim Combs makes art out of reclaimed materials in an attempt to save the universe one piece of art at a time. In his continuing work, The Reclamation Project, Tim is influenced by high contrast illustration and Japanese and Chinese aesthetics – the spontaneity of Zen ink washes, the textures of Japanese woodblock prints, and the inherent beauty in decay and weathering. His most recent work involves carving strong iconography fish, portraits, buildings and bridges to examine how iconography influences our lives.
Tim’s art is his way to express social activism after years of working in nonprofits. He uses art as a focal point, a node of intersection, for messages of reuse, sustainability and community connection.
