Lucy Pond’s first public art piece drew upon her huge personal postage stamp collection, overflowing from an ancient suitcase. She studied many art disciplines at Seattle’s Gage Academy, working in collage, 3-D collage, watercolors, acrylics, pastels, and colored pencils. She continues to dip into her still-abundant stamp collection, which represents the universality of the human condition: our one-ness.
Lucy’s entry for the CHAIR AFFAIR+ was originally found by the side of the road with a “free” sign on it. Now, clad in seashells and beads, and recently, given a face, it became this chair: “Mermaids Don’t Scrub Floors.” She loved creating this whimsical lady of the sea.
