Laura grew up in Motown, and as a child played in the flat-land wetlands and woodlands around her house. She is drawn to the abundance and freedom of the natural world and seeks to create with natural elements.
Laura is inspired by the textures, colors and simple patterns observed in wild landscapes. Trained as a landscape and environmental designer, she works professionally as a landscape architect. In 2010 Laura established her own consulting firm that provides professional services in landscape architecture, ecological design and sustainable landscape design. The firm was founded on the belief that innovation in sustainable design is based upon close observation of natural systems and is grounded in strong science. Her creations can be seen in gardens and landscapes around the Pacific Northwest and in the Midwest.
