Since abundant resources have already been used to create materials for their original purpose, Ed Challed’s art uses only materials that are on their second or third life. A Portland-based craftsman, Ed spends time re-appropriating bits out of scrap piles and is continually on the lookout for inspiration and parts that fit the whole.
Though the concept of reuse is nothing new, Ed hopes to intrigue and stimulate others to creatively look at the potential of things around them. He believes the ultimate solution to the new economy is to keep things local and support fellow craftsmen and community members.
