Charlie Metcalf gains great satisfaction though little fame from being able to envision a piece, choose the materials and then produce it. After completion, it is not unusual for Charlie to look at the finished work and wonder, “What was I thinking?”
Charlie’s work has been called a combination of form and function. Varying with each piece, it takes precedent, form or function; it is a personal choice. He is most comfortable working with wood, steel and glass, but he is not opposed to a three-way, incorporating all of them. Charlie is aware and very grateful for the influences that have shaped him and, therefore, his work.
