Andy Munson specializes in functional and artistic coatings, usually applying them to fireams. His mediums vary between paint, glass and steel. While most of his finishes are camouflage, he meets customer requests, including mimicing snakeskin, barb wire and other patterns. His other mediums are glass (etched) and steel. Andy recently purchased a welder and is making a life sized grizzly bear with steel lath and rebar. Once the steel lath is applied, he will sew on copper or aluminum Hamm scans to create the skin. The piece will be finished with glass eyes and chrome dipped steel teeth.
This year Andy chose to follow advice from the show Portlandia by “putting a bird on it and calling it art.” Put a bird on it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0XM3vWJmpfo
